Level Profiling
Responsible for optimizing and profiling new levels, this include CPU and GPU
profiling to ensure target frames are hit at low spec machines. Communicating
with artist and level designers when adjustments are needed.

Hetu Cyberverse is a platform of mixed reality project that aims to create immersive multiplayer and social experiences. By utilizing precise VPS systems, it opens up opportunities for innovative gaming experiences. The project is still in development.




My production responsibilities include:

 Shader FX &#38;amp; Character IK &#38;amp; FSM

Paint material shader development. Low res render texture mask are updated and projected for inked surfaces. Stylized FX explosion and sprays shader, with dynamic mesh deformation using Megafier.
State Machine design, with multilayer animation blends for different avatar body parts (upper body, arm, etc). Bone retargeting. Basic IK system setup for character aiming.&#38;nbsp;

C# scripting for basic animation framework (integrated within our player framework).

CEREMONIAL GATE2023
Unity, Environment Art, Blender, Substance Painter, Shader, VFX
	

Personal project going through the entire workflow of modelling, sculpting, texturing, shading, environment art, lighting and vfx. I wanted to recreate an entire scene environment based on concept art from Gabriel Yeganyan as a process of learning and trying out different workflows with Unity’s HD render pipeline. Entire scene is running real time with ray traced reflections. This is still a work in progress.









	
    

	
    

	


To create a more living environment subtle motions was added to break part the stillness. I wrote vert shaders to animate flag waving, vegetations swaying, whilst adding subtle environment FX such as dust and bird to add motion at different depth.


lighting played a big part in the visual story telling of the scene, looking at the origin concept art I imagined the environment to be in the alpine mountains surrounded by high cliffs and fort.





Environment ProcessI began by using scanned assets for quick scene placement and blockout, and later modeled in blender for more specific assets, such as the portal, platform, and cliff structures, audience textures. All models were built in Blender and textured in Substance Painter. The terrain was sculpted using Unity's terrain tool.

Texturing &#38;amp; Modeling &#38;amp; AI

Low poly, High poly workflow using blender’s sculpting tools. Height and surface details (cracks) are later painted in Substance. For the gate’s paint/drawing, AI texture generation was used to create the organic alien like nature from the original concept art (prompt: alien coral, warm orange color inspired the film Nemo). The texture was layer manipulated in substance slightly with modifiers.

Active Matter is an interactive installation space that explores the idea of evolving and adaptive space through chaos, complex systems, and choreography. It creates a feedback loop between spatial qualities and human movement, where complex systems embody the living space. Simple rule sets, which are adapted through reinforced learning, are used to create dynamic and nonlinear interactions that generate different choreographic patterns triggered by the audience's actions.


The project draws inspiration from Cedric Price's vision of the fun palace, which has always been at the heart of architecture exploration. Empty spaces become defined and evolved, and our movement adapts to these changes, creating new paths of choreography. The feedback control between spatial qualities and human movement creates a living system that is dynamic and constantly changing, resulting in emergent patterns of choreography. As a complex system, it consists of simple agents that interact nonlinearly with each other, with no central control, and emergent behaviors may surface.


The project explores the notion of fluid spaces coexisting with humans, resulting in a dynamic and interactive installation space. The use of virtual simulations and simple rule sets to create dynamic and nonlinear interactions generates different choreographic patterns, creating a living system.

Even if the air looks clear, it is certain that you will inhale tens of millions of solid and liquid particles, travelling from one side of the planet to the other. These ubiquitous specks of matter are known as aerosols, which are invisible to the eye, however not invisible to human lungs. Digital Atmosphere investigates a future in which clear air may be a reality through giving nature a voice.


Digital Atmosphere is an Augmented Reality experience. The piece looks at how technology and art can illuminate the quality of our air, usually invisible to the naked eye, and bring us an urgent step closer to a sustainable, zero-emissions future.&#38;nbsp;At a time when the safety of our air is at the front and centre of our public consciousness, this digital installation is a timely technological and artistic endeavour.


Using cutting-edge digital and sensory technology, the Augmented Reality sculpture’s Atmo Sensor picks up the invisible change of air quality of the immediate environment, which is translated into an evocative visual simulation, visible to the viewer through the AR headset.











VFX &#38;amp; Flocking Particle System


Custom particle system built with flocking algorithm (alignment, separation, cohesion). Boids contains avoidance with the virtual version of the physical installation, creating dynamic motions around the installation when viewed in AR. 

Flocking variables driven by air pollution data received through RasberryPI.

The dynamics of weather and atmospheric forces play a crucial role in the changing cycle of stones, a process known as "weathering." In the VR experience "Geological Performers," visitors enter an alternative time capsule that allows them to perceive dynamic changes in different weathering processes, influenced by real-time weather data. These changes are usually imperceptible to the naked eye, as they occur over time.


Inspired by Berlin's weather, visitors can experience different atmospheric pockets representing types of weathering processes that impact the generative forms and digital materials of virtual stones. External real-time weather data enters the virtual indoor space, being transformed into parameters such as movement, speed, forms of computer graphics, and cracks - tangible to the visitors through the phantasmagorical time capsule. The experience creates a sensitivity for the active change of matter, which is constantly happening around us, shaping the past, present, and the next million years: stones around us are active and alive.


Custom shaders were developed to build the interactive surface material, drawing live data from a web API to control different parameters. Flow maps were used to mimic the weathering process of each individual stone. The simulations of fragmentation were generated in C4D, pre-baked, and played back in real-time.









Shader &#38;amp; MaterialPhoto scanned rock asset remeshed and unwrapped using instant-mesh and C4D. Custom fracture pattern and animation was simulated based on the rock’s decay type. Flowmap texture was hand painted and used within a custom flowmap shader combined height based dissolve effect. Floor fog using UV scrolling.

'Colliding Forces' consists of two dynamic digital sculptures which change daily by responding to the weather conditions of Windermere. Inspired by the ongoing conservation of the museum's collection and the beautiful side of the Lake District, the experience aims to tell stories in a dynamic and data-driven way.


Using wind speed, gust, and humidity data, each digital particle is altered by the world around it. The image above shows the 'Wind Sculpture' exploring the invisible forces of boats, the weather, and water. Through a swirling vortex, the audience can experience the invisible force which boats often propel beneath water beyond our line of sight. Changing every 15 minutes, the living sculpture responds to local weather data and interprets how water and wind collide.











Shader &#38;amp; Materials
I used baked fracture simulation with wave and turbulence force to emulate boat’s body breaking done. Custom boat materials was made using photo scanned textures from the museum’s boat collection. A custom shader was developed to blend between boat texture and ‘decayed’ version of the texture.

A twisting particle system was developed following customized Bezier curves, emulating the design of the boat’s propelling force.

	RAYMARCHING &#38;amp; PROCEDURAL SDF2023

Realtime raymarching experiment with custom SDF animations, using multiple noise functions (perlin, fbm) together with smoothmin functions to blend together the SDF functions. Subsurface scattering shading is achieved with thickness estimation using RayMarching (not fully accurate), and some standard GGX BRDF shading.
Written entirelly in HLSL, this project is the first step of creating my own RayMarching library, exploring the possibilities of RayMarch techniques.
